Burgas declaration, European Maritime Day 2018.

The Facility for Blue Growth  in the Black Sea was present in Burgas, Bulgaria for the European Maritime Day 2018, organised by the European Commission's Directorate General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, the Bulgarian EU Presidency and the Municipality of Burgas. The conference took place on 31 May and 1 June 2018 and hosted the Ministerial Meeting for the endorsement of the Burgas declaration for a Common Maritime Agenda for the Black Sea.

The development of a maritime spatial plan (MSP) is a requirement under EU as well as national legislation. MSP aims to reduce or avoid conflicts between a variety of economic and noneconomic functions, but it is also a tool to identify and give the suitable room to new and changing spatial uses. New project reinforces fishery control and monitoring in the Black Sea

The General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) has recently issued a recommendation regarding a multiannual management plan for turbot in the Black Sea (GFCM/41/2017/4).
